TIGA welcomes Project M as its latest member

By May 20, 2015 Press Releases

Studio’s debut title ‘Dig That Gold’ is the world’s first mobile game franchise, which awards players with real gold bars

TIGA, the network for game developers and digital publishers, and trade association representing the UK videogame industry, has welcomed new studio Project M as its latest member.

Project M’s first game, ‘Dig That Gold’ is a free-to-play mobile game where you play as a gold miner, set around the Gold Rush of 1849, and will launch in August 2015. Dig That Gold will award players for their achievements – regardless of whether they are paying or free users – with actual, real gold bars, securely delivered to their home anywhere in the world.

It is the Project M’s team’s view that the vast majority of current mobile games do not award players anywhere near significantly or innovatively enough, given the time and / or money many players invest.

Project M is also the world’s first mobile game franchise opportunity. Investors and entrepreneurs can own a level within the game (represented as a virtual gold mine) and receive revenue from the all the players that choose to spend money in their mining level.

The game provides Gold Mine owners with the freedom, tools and support to develop and promote their virtual franchise, to increase revenues as they see fit. These awards provide a built-in incentive for investors and players alike, to drive conversations and sharing via social channels – an essential requirement for success in the modern global mobile games market.

The franchise model has been launched and now available to buy. In spite of very little marketing and no PR, investors have already made contact with Project M and 55 franchises have already been sold for £15,000 +.

Any investors or media interested in finding out more about the game and business model may wish to attend the Project M Open Day, on Monday, June 1st 2015, from 6-8pm. The event will be held at Google Campus, 4-5 Bonhill Street, London EC2A 4BX. The event is invite only, so if you are interested in attending, please contact lucy.uden@project-miner.com and provide your name, company name, and contact details.

Project M is a UK studio based at the Shoreditch Tech Hub.

Sean McNicholas, co-founder, Project M, comments:

“Now we’re approaching the launch of Dig That Gold, which we believe is a game proposition and business model never seen before in our industry, it feels like the right time to join TIGA.

“TIGA has been very helpful in connecting us with everyone from games investors to national media, and we’re hopeful that our membership will allow us to give back to the UK game development community too.”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO, TIGA added:

“Everyone at TIGA offers Project M a warm welcome to our community. Dig That Gold is an absolutely fascinating project, given it intersects innovation in both mobile gaming and finance.

“I look forward to sharing more news of the success of the project with Project M’s fellow TIGA members, and wish the team the very best of luck with the game.”

Notes to editors

Project M has a BETA version of Dig That Gold – called ‘Mine That Gold’, going live at the end of May 2015. Due to it being part of the final game’s testing phase, prior to the full launch of Dig That Gold in August 2015, Mine That Gold will not feature gold bar awards.
