TIGA welcomes Megadev as its latest member

By April 22, 2013 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the UKgames industry, is delighted to welcome Megadev as its latest member.

The
UK-based Flash games development team specialises in producing quality 2D games
and it also has experience with Android, iPhone and PC platforms.

It was formed when founding members Mike
Tucker, Jon Davies and Nick Parton left their previous employment in 2008 and
decided the time was right to establish their own development house.

The trio based the new company on a principle of
making exactly the kind of games they wished to play. After being lucky enough
to work with such companies as Namco and Adult Swim, they employed a second
artist, Stefan Barnett, in 2012 to cope with a drastically increased workload.

Its fantasy puzzle-RPG
series Knightfall is representative of its intention to make games that are a
unique spin on classic formulas and are both easily accessible to players and
yet also mechanically deep. MegaDev has a Steam-exclusive
version of its twitch platform slash-em-up Super House of Dead Ninjas which has
been released by Adult Swim.

It includes
new areas, weapons, bosses, and a fully-functional map editor that allows users
to share their creations. It is currently
developing a rhythm-action game which freshens up the genre by including
beat-em-up elements. The Steam version of Super House of Dead Ninjas was
released in February.

Nick Parton, Co-founder of Megadev, said:
“The work TIGA has done and continues to do on
behalf of the industry is something we would very much like to lend our support
to. The tax break scheme is a major step forward for the UK industry, and we
have a desire to add to a collective push that will make the UK an attractive
and amenable place for videogame development.”

Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, said:
“Megadev has successfully made unique, playable
games over the last four years. Megadev wants to foster greater ties within the UK games
industry. TIGA, by providing best practice information and advice, networking
events and policy measures including the introduction of TIGA’s Games Tax Relief
will enable Megadev and other similar sutdios to grow substantially in the
future. We are delighted to have them on board.”
