By December 19, 2017 Press Releases

A pilot which streamlines the process for international Masters students wanting to study in the UK has been extended to an additional 23 universities, the Immigration Minister, Brandon Lewis MP, announced today.

The scheme also provides greater support for students who wish to switch to a work visa and take up a graduate role, by allowing them to remain in the UK for 6 months after they have finished their course.

Commenting on the announcement, Dr Richard Wilson, Chief Executive of TIGA, said:

‘The single most important priority for the UK video games industry is that it has access to highly-skilled employees. Therefore, we fully support making it easier for international students to stay and find work after their Masters degree.

‘The UK video games industry has a first-class global reputation. But our ability to compete globally depends on our access to global talent. We must be able to easily recruit the very best and brightest graduates in our field.

‘While today’s announcement is welcome, it cannot become harder to recruit from the EU and EEA after Brexit. Many of our members, particularly smaller businesses, already benefit from the ability to hire talent with a minimum of cost and red tape.’
