TIGA Launches Curated Page on Kickstarter

By December 3, 2012 Press Releases

Welcomes the FundingPlatform for Creative Projects with Membership

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, is
delighted to announce that Kickstarter has become a TIGA member.

Kickstarter, which has seen nearly $80M pledged to US-launched Games
projects to date, offers game developers the chance to bring projects to life
through the direct support of others. In the
modern age of digital distribution with many start-up studios emerging, TIGA
feels that sites such as Kickstarter are a vital and encouraging initiative
which especially helps smaller studios struggling to raise money to produce
their games with the backing of gamers.

Kickstarter also allow developers to
get closer to their fan base and it means that gamers have a greater input in
the creative side of the development process. TIGA intends to promote members who have games seeking
Kickstarter funding via its curated page, providing a single trusted point of
entry to what the very best of British talent has to offer.  I

n addition, TIGA members familiar with
Kickstarter are already offering help and advice to other members on how best
to utilise this facility.

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, said:
“Kickstarter represents an exciting new way to fund video games.
Kickstarter also enables games development studios to build stronger
connections with their fans. TIGA is delighted that Kickstarter have opened
operations in the UK and we are proud to welcome them as a member.

Nick Brown, TIGA board member managing the process
said:
I’m really excited to be able to offer this initiative
to our members. On the one hand we are able to facilitate a two way exchange of
ideas between our members and their fans by offering the Kickstarter platform
and advice on how best to utilise it from those who really know how to.  Additionally, for those outside the TIGA
membership, they are now able to access a single trusted repository of ground-breaking
and innovative titles from a country leading the charge, as we become the new
Hollywood.
