TIGA HR Panel sets out new Agenda

By September 29, 2011 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, today
announced the appointment of Giselle Stewart, General Manager and HR Director
of Ubisoft Reflections, as Chair of the TIGA HR Panel, and set out its HR
agenda for the coming months.

TIGA’s HR Panel consists of the Heads of HR from some of the UK’s leading game
development studios including Ubisoft Reflections, Blitz and Jagex. The Panel’s
purposes is to: disseminate best practice about training, recruitment,
retention, performance management and compliance issues;provide a forum
to discuss HR issues affecting the games industry; and to assist in the
execution of specific HR related projects. The Panel shares experience and
advice, enabling members to learn from each other and from invited speakers.

Giselle Stewart, General Manager and HR Director of Ubisoft
Reflections, said:

“It is essential for our industry to
meet, share best practice and tackle the HR issues facing the games industry.
The TIGA HR Panel provides a forum for achieving these goals.

“The TIGA HR Panel is already having
an impact. Our annual Salary Survey, developed in conjunction with HR
specialists Aon Hewitt, is being used by the UK Border Agency; this is a real
success story for the TIGA HR Panel and for our industry. We will be repeating
the survey this year and I hope that even more studios will participate.

“The TIGA HR Panel will also work to
strengthen links between education providers and the games industry; produce
best practice information and advice on recruitment; and provide new information
about careers in the games industry.”

Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, said:

“The TIGA HR Panel has helped
to share best practice, promote deeper co-operation amongst game developers and
provide important business information, for example, about pay and conditions
amongst the development workforce. Giselle is highly professional, incisive and
focused. She is an excellent Chair of the TIGA HR Panel.”

The TIGA HR Panel will:

  • arrange the 2012 UK game
    developers’ salary survey to produce a reliable source of information
    about the salaries and benefits of the UK development workforce (TIGA
    works with Aon Hewitt to produce a comprehensive and valid report about
    salaries in the UK games industry);
  • receive updates on employment law
    provided by leading lawyers from amongst TIGA’s membership and then
    disseminate this information to the wider TIGA community;
  • help to build stronger links with
    higher education providers to further enhance the quality of provision and
    to ensure that the UK games industry recruits the best talent;
  • produce best practice information
    and advice on recruitment and careers in the games industry;
  • discuss and share best HR practice.
