TIGA encourages developers to be ready for Kickstarter

By October 23, 2012 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK gamesindustry, says UK developers should ready themselves for the launch of
Kickstarter in the country.

It comes as Born Ready Games announces the launch of a
Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming space combat game Strike Suit Zero.
The money raised through Kickstarter is necessary to keep
the game in development for a few more months, giving Strike Suit Zero the
time to reach its full potential.

James Brooksby, CEO of Born Ready Games, said:
“Strike Suit Zero is
incredibly close to being the game we want it to be, but we've realised that we
need a little more time, which means that the budget needed to be increased. We
hope that with the help of Kickstarter we can bring Strike Suit Zero to
launch as the best space combat title the genre has seen for over a decade, and
at the same time connect with space game fans around the world.”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, said:  “
Kickstarter is coming to the UK and
it presents a great opportunity for developers to generate funds and produce
games that are better and more expansive than originally intended. Many of our
members talk about the problems of getting bank finance and Kickstarter
presents a great alternative which involves videogame players too. We have seen
some amazing projects already with Kickstarter and it is now UK developers'
turn to realise its benefits.”
