TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, said today that it would work to support the next wave of creative individuals and games businesses to achieve their potential. TIGA made the comments during a speech by Lorna Evans, TIGA’s Project Manager, at the International App Conference in Dundee.

Lorna Evans, TIGA’s Project Manager, said:

“TIGA is delighted to be supporting the International AppJam and AppConference, organised by TIGA member Dundee College, and other key industry partners. The App market is providing exciting new opportunities for developers. TIGA intends to support the next wave of creative individuals and successful interactive companies to take advantage of these and other opportunities in the months and years ahead.

“TIGA is supporting developers through a range of services: advice on self-publishing; Project Ignite, a new service that will enable small developers to publish browser-based games via Jagex Game Studio; enabling developers to attend overseas trade shows; the provision of networking events; building connections with other creative industries; building links between industry and education; and through the provision of key services for members at discounted prices. This is all part of our strategy to ensure that the UK is the best place in the world to do games business.

“In 2011 TIGA will aim to support individuals as well as companies in the video games industry by opening TIGA up to individual membership. Individuals will be able to access a range of services based around career advice, networking events and discounts on relevant services.””

The International App Conference is part of the greater NEoN digital arts festival taking place in Dundee this week. The NEoN Conference is being hosted by TIGA member, the University of Abertay. TIGA is supporting both the Conference and the wider festival. Discounts on ticket prices are available for TIGA members.
