Spotless Interactive joins TIGA

By June 25, 2012 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the
UK video games industry, has welcomed Spotless Interactive as its latest
member.

The company, which was established in 2004, researches users, tests interfaces and
offers training courses to support user requirements and
business goals across video games, mobile, tablet devices and websites.

Spotless Interactive aims to support
developers by seeing their work through the eyes of players. It does this by
finding players who meet the target demographic of a game. the company asks
them for their opinions, watches them play and invites developers to input
their opinions, and search for any problem areas that arise from a usability
perspective.

Ben Logan, director of Spotless Interactive,
said:

“We are delighted to
be joining TIGA and look forward to working with it and its members. User
experience testing is a standard part in the development cycle of websites and
apps. We are utilising new biometric techniques in this testing to give further
insight into the user and their interactions. These include: eye tracking, GSR,
heart rate and mood recording through facial recognition software.

“Our short term goal is to show the benefits of user centred design to
game developers who may not have heard of it, giving them the opportunity to
bring a user centred design approach to game development. This can open up new
viewpoints and opportunities for a developer to explore to make their games
stand out.

“Our long term goal is to show the interesting information that biometrics
can provide. Allowing developers to gain further insight into players
engagement and emotional states when interacting with their games and
products.”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, said:

“It is important
for developers to produce games which are accessible and well-tested and we are
very pleased to have Spotless Interactive on board. The company looks at basic
user interactions and the overall experience and they help developers ensure
their games are of the highest standard before they go to market.”

As well as working with TIGA's developers, the company says it is also happy to
sponsor events and offer advice to developers in workshops and it is offering
members a 50 per cent discount on their first professional review.
